I’m Emily King — Artist, storyteller, and the gal-behind-the-curtain. I’m not a web developer nor a data engineer; I’m just someone trying to share soul-stirring stories, and heart-touching art. That means I do my best to keep your privacy protected, using only the minimal plugins and tools necessary to keep this site functioning and enjoyable.

Short-and-sweet:

• I don’t collect personal data unless you give it to me, (e.g., signing up for a newsletter).
• I don’t sell, trade or share your information with anyone. Period.
• I use MailPoet to send out newsletters. That tool—and whatever it uses—may store your name and email if you subscribe. (I have it set to only track opens and clicks, but I have no way of knowing if it’s doing more than that.)
• I don’t use third-party ads, tracking-pixels or any other kind of sneaky trackers.
• If I ever learn that a plugin or part of what I use to make my site work is being shady, I’ll remove it “faster than you can say ‘corrupted yokai.’”
• COOKIES: Some cookies may be used by WordPress to make sure the site works properly, (like remembering logins and such).
• ANALYITICSS: I may use basic anonymized stats to understand how many visitors are coming to the site, but I won’t knowingly allow any sneaky or unnecessary tracking.
• NEWSLETTER STUFF: If you sign up, MailPoet may track whether emails are opened or clicked—this helps me learn what’s helpful to readers (and what’s not). I won’t use this info to spam you. Super-pinky-promise!
• OPT-OUT ANYTIME: Every newsletter should include an unsubscribe link, and if you ever have any trouble unsubscribing, just drop me a note via the contact form and I’ll take care of it personally.

A final word:

If anything here ever seems off, please reach out via the contact form. I want to do the right thing and fix what I can. This site exists to help me tell my stories, not to gather data.
